Despite a wet start to the day about 200 visitors came through the 2019 show, held in the Kapiti Community Centre. 140 show exhibits were staged by club members and students from Te Ra Waldorf School, who created a table of 18 sand saucers. The room was made even more glamorous by a glittering display of floral art produced by the afternoon group. Our thanks to Kevin Pritchard and Fay Chedzoy who took on the serious business of judging; you can view or download the list of category winners here.
We tried a new layout this year: a diagonal showbench arrangement which not only looked smart but made more space to walk round in and created a “café corner” for refreshment – a sandwich a scone and a cuppa – delicious. Another innovation was a better and faster way to register the entries and to print the prize certificates for awarding later in the show. Well done Marilyn and Stephen Morrin for clever use of your laptop.
And thanks again to the local businesses who helped out this year with prizes and sales items.
