COVID19 Announcement

Now that we are down to Level 1 our afternoon and evening meetings will will be pretty much as normal, on the first Friday of each month. There will be hand sanitizer for you and a register so we know who is attending, as well as extra cleaning and some social distancing in place. Stay well, everybody!

Market Stall at MacLean Street market, Paraparaumu Beach. 8 a.m. ’til 12:30p.m.

Time to sell all the plants we’ve raised and garden stuff we’ve found or made this year. Come and see what we’ve got.

4th December 2020

Monthly Meeting at Ocean Road Community Centre.

Afternoon Group: No meeting at the hall this month – we are all going out for lunch instead and meeting again in February 2001.

Evening Group 7p.m.

Christmas Party, a social evening. There will be no sales table or competition table, but there will be a competition for the best small table decoration. Find a small vase or bowl, fill it with things from your garden, and bring it along.

5th February 2021

Monthly Meeting at Ocean Road Community Centre.

Afternoon Group, 1:30 p.m.

Competition: A TOUCH OF LOVE.

Practice: IRISH EYES for St Patricks Day March 17th. Any type\style of container (maybe green!). Lots of greenery of any description, ornaments eg. leprechauns! Your choice.

Evening Group, 7 p.m.

Flower of the month: Summer Bulb – includes rhizomes and tubers, so Dahlias are included as well as Naked Ladies etc.

5th March 2021

Monthly Meeting at Ocean Road Community Centre.

Afternoon Group, 1:30 p.m.

Annual General Meeting.

Competition: IRISH EYES.

Practice: EASTER FUN for April. Any container eg. basket, pretty box, hat, nest. Chocolate eggs, artificially coloured real eggs (cooked!), fluffy chickens, bunnys, flowers, items used in church during Easter, eg. candlesticks, candles, crosses. Lots of imagination here.

Evening Group, 7 p.m.

Annual General Meeting; followed by the regular monthly meeting.

2nd April 2021 (Good Friday)

Monthly Meeting at Ocean Road Community Centre.

Afternoon Group, 1:30 p.m.

Competition: EASTER FUN.

Practice: using leaves only (no flowers, berries) for May comp. (M.W.T.) BEST USE OF LEAVES. Any container, flat, round, tall, square. Native leaves, mixture large, small, citrus, flax, feijoa. Be sure the material is well soaked, suitable mechanics, frogs, tape, floral foam, needle holders, wire.

7th May 2021

Monthly Meeting at Ocean Road Community Centre.

Afternoon Group, 1:30 p.m.

Competition: M.W.T. BEST USE OF LEAVES.

Practice: IKEBANA for June comp. Container low flat, square, pottery, china (pyrex dish not too high) tall cylinder fat round, oblong. Material, bark, curved sticks, aspidistra leaves, flax, geranium leaves used to cover base, large ivy, fig leaves. Clean and soak material well, lightly polish leaves with a little cooking oil. Good mechanics, needle holders, oasis, frogs, oasis fix.

4th June 2021

Monthly Meeting at Ocean Road Community Centre.

Afternoon Group, 1:30 p.m.

Competition: IKEBANA.

Practice for July: JUST THE TWO OF US. Use two matching containers if possible, any style or shape eg. bottles, tall, medium, short. The two containers are linked together by using material from one looping over into the second container and vice versa which brings them together. Materiel, broom, curved sticks, agapanthus leaves, flax, a few flowers. Make sure material is well soaked. You will be shown how to curve broom.
